HP Palm Partnership Takes Aim At Smartphones

Palm may are the grandfather of PDAs and smartphones, however they have not been doing well. Therefore, the Palm HP partnership could not have come at a better time. Palm is getting a $ 1.2 billion payday loans no fax for their handset designs, intellectual property, and operating systems.

Palm saved by HP purchase

HP Palm partnership is definitely coming at a very good time for Palm. Despite a well-reviewed new operating system, Palm has been struggling to survive. A design that was a bit frustrating combined with slow sales meant Palm’s revenues have been falling. Low order volumes and slow sales were outlined in the latest SEC filing from Palm.

HP Palm plans

The HP Palm purchase has been questioned by some Wall Street investors. Paying over $ 5 a stock for a business with a $ 1 stock in 2008 seems a little odd. It certainly seems that HP might have plans for the Palm operating system. In the HP Palm purchase announcement, HP outlines its strategy as “creating a mobile ecosystem” that “leverages HP’s channel and enterprise connections”. Translation – HP might be distancing itself from being a Windows-only manufacturer and entering the phone, tablet, and mobile markets.

Will Palm OS run the HP Slate?

Hewlett Packard has been a “strategic partner” with Microsoft for a long time — but the HP Palm partnership might distance this relationship. There are doubts that Windows 7 can be “lightweight” enough for the HP Streak. The HP Streak is rumored to be released as a smartphone, slate computer, and more – so the polished Palm OS would be the perfect match. Using the Palm OS would keep HP from being beholden to Window’s release regulations. Though Apple’s dominance is difficult to challenge, Palm and HP partnering may be able to make a go of it.

HP Palm to merge in July

The HP Palm purchase is not yet approved by all regulatory agencies. Both boards of directors have approved the purchase. At the very same time, stockholders and regulatory agencies nevertheless need to approve the merger. If the HP Palm merger is approved, HP will become complete owner of Palm around July 2010.
