Brandon Marshall of the Dolphins gets in big trouble with big numbers

Football 1
The trade of Brandon Marshall is the talk of NFL. The superstar wide receiver, known as much for his arrest record as his pass catching talent, has been traded by the Denver Broncos to the Miami Dolphins. According to the NFL, the Dolphins gave Denver a second round pick in next week's NFL draft within the Brandon Marshal trade, as well as a second round pick next year.

Just what is Miami getting out of the Brandon Marshall trade?

While Brandon Marshall has been brilliant in a brutal man’s game, he has been beating up women off the field. Is it cash now, pain later? In Brandon Marshall, the Dolphins are getting themselves one of the greatest receivers within the game at one of the worst positions. Brandon Marshall is very close to being suspended for one year by the NFL.

Brandon Marshall and what he learned in college

Brandon Marshall was in police reports during his junior year in college at the University of Central Florida with misdemeanor charges with disorderly conduct, refusal to obey, assault on a police officer, and resisting arrest. Later the charges were dismissed. Later he was charged with retail theft after trying to return a set of stolen bed sheets. Those charges were also dropped.

Did the fight with Brandon Marshall lead to fatal shooting?

Brandon Marshall was drafted in 2006 by the Denver Broncos. Previous Broncos wide receiver Javon Walker said contributed to a drive by shooting shortly after that killed Broncos cornerback Darrent Williams.

Brandon Marshall beats up girlfriend

In the parking lot of a bowling alley in Orlando Fla., Brandon Marshall attracted the police following a fight with his father who asked to borrow cash in January 2007. Another police report was filed in March 2007 after his girlfriend Rasheedah Watley said Marshall threatened her with a lead pipe. A few days later, Marshall was arrested for domestic violence and false imprisonment for assaulting Watley at Marshall’s home in Denver. All of the charges were dismissed after Marshall attended anger management classes.

So much for anger management: Brandon Marshall

Brandon Marshall assaulted Watley again, according to police reports, in June 2007 when he allegedly cut her with a kitchen knife and punched her within the face. Marshall then went and rammed Watley's friend's automobile with his nice vehicle, being a Cadillac Escalade. Once again, no charges were filed. Just a little while later, the Atlanta police responded after Marshall missed a flight, Blamed Watley for it, and beat her up. No charges were filed. The Atlanta police told Watley to get a restraining order.

Brandon Marshall is drinking and driving

Brandon Marshall received a DUI in October 2007 in Denver. After more reports of violence with Watley on the receiving end, Marshall was suspended for the first 3 regular season games of 2008. Marshall was eventually charged with two misdemeanor counts of simple battery for incidents in March 2007. He was given a year of probation after his DUI in September 2008.

Brandon Marshall and his fiance assaults

Brandon Marshall proposed to Michi Nogami-Campbell in February of 2009, making many sports writers praise Marshall's "maturity." Marshall was arrested for assaulting his fiance in public in Atlanta just a couple of months later. The charges were dismissed. The Broncos suspended Marshall for a number of games last season and he was benched for the final game.

Dolphins, best of luck with Brandon Marshall

After all this, why did the Dolphins want a Brandon Marshall Trade? He’s instant money — with caveats. For the third straight year, Marshall has managed to catch 100 passes, and he set an NFL record for receptions in a game with 21 in 2009. Brandon Marshall's conduct in the meantime, including his recent assault on his fiance, is under review by the NFL. Good Luck Dolphins with Brandon Marshall.
