Cooks Source targeted for stolen content

“Cooks Source” is, all things considered, a somewhat small guide. The magazine was a relative unknown. It publishes online articles and magazine editions. ”Cooks Source” was called out for using stolen content, though. Internet justice seems to have certainly found this small magazine. Post resource – Cooks Source – Delivering homegrown justice for stolen content by Personal Money Store.

'Cooks Source’ has the ‘Tale of Two Tarts’

GodeCookery.com is owned and operated by Monica Gaudio. It is a medieval cooking blog. A few years ago, she wrote “A Tale of Two Tarts“, which explored the history of apple pies. Without her permission, Gauido found out "Cooks Source" did a Pumpkin Fest issue that had her article in it.

Brushing off by ‘Cooks Source’

Monica Gauido wrote the "Cooks Source" editors a letter after seeing her article in there. She asked that they donate $130 to the Columbia School of Journalism and give a public apology. Numerous have been quite angry that "Cooks Source" sent such an interesting reaction.

“Yes Monica, I have been doing this for 3 decades, having been an editor at The Voice, Housitonic Home and Connecticut Woman Magazine. I do know about copyright laws. It was ‘my bad’ indeed, and, as the magazine is put together in long sessions, tired eyes and minds something forget to do these things. But honestly Monica, the web is considered ‘public domain’ and you should be happy we just didn’t ‘lift’ your whole article and put someone else’s name on it! It happens a lot, clearly more than you are aware of, especially on college campuses, and the workplace. If you took offence and are unhappy, I am sorry, but you as a professional should know that the article we used written by you was in very bad need of editing, and is much better now than was originally. Now it will work well for your portfolio. For that reason, I have a bit of a difficult time with your requests for monetary gain, albeit for such a ! fine (and very wealthy!) institution. We put some time into rewrites, you should compensate me! I never charge young writers for advice or rewriting poorly written pieces, and have many who write for me… ALWAYS for free!”

Judith Griggs was editor that responded. Many were surprised by this.

'Cooks Source’ gets a strong response

The "Cooks Source editor's email was something Monica Gaudio put on her online social network. There had been a fast response that happened. It was fast too. Internet researchers turned their ire on “Cooks Source” and easily found that articles within the magazine had been lifted wholesale from Food Network, Martha Stewart, Sunset, and NPR. Numerous in "Cooks Source" that advertise are starting to get from that. The business relationship has faded a bit. A public relationship issue is now a concern within the local food magazine “Cooks Source”. Right now, seems like content is all anybody wants. That means the situation that "Cooks Source" has is probably the situation for others as well. Maybe "Cooks Source" is just doing what others haven't been caught for yet. Possibly they should be in trouble for it though.
